
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR HIREES OF BOUNCY CASTLE
This unit should be operated to the standards set out by the Health and Safety Executive
(Guidance on Safety and Practice in Fairgrounds and Amusement Parks – ETIS7), BSEN
14960:2006, the Manufacturer and the Local Authority.
At all times you must act responsibly to operate the unit SAFELY and so avoid injury to any
person using the unit and to avoid damage to the unit.
Operating Instructions:
1. All inflatables must be sited on level grass and at least 1.5 metres away from patios,
paths or other obstacles.
2. All inflatables require a 13 amp electrical supply. It is your responsibility to provide a
SAFE supply and we strongly recommend the use of earth leakage trip switches for
connection to the mains supply.
3. The motor / fan must be left running at all times.
4. Ensure that all cables, ropes and spare equipment are not creating an obstacle for any
person at any time.
5. We strongly recommend that the area for the inflatable be cordoned off for safety and
ease of operation. Fencing, ropes or even chairs will suffice.
6. The unit must be supervised by a responsible adult (an adult is defined as a person
of eighteen years or more) at all times and never left unattended.
7. Adults must watch the activity of users on the unit constantly. They should use a
whistle or other device and take action at the first sign of any misconduct.
8. Utmost care should be taken to ensure that the age group of the participants and/or
physical attributes (height and weight) are the same and/or similar.
9. Do not allow participants with medical conditions (e.g. brittle bones, neck or back
injuries, heart condition or temporary injuries) which may put them at risk of injury to
use the unit.
10. All units are designed for specific age ranges. The unit supplied will only be suitable for
the age range you stipulated.
11. All shoes, jewellery, glasses and sharp objects must be removed before using the unit.
12. Do not allow toys, food or drink to be taken onto the unit.
13. At no time must the walls of the unit be climbed on or sat on.
14. Ensure that participants do not jump off the unit.
15. Do not allow participants to attempt somersaults.
16. A maximum of number of participants that may use the unit at any one time as
recommended by the manufacturer is displayed on the unit.
17. During the operation of your unit you must check the anchor points for security,
electrical connections and vent ties hourly.
18. In the unlikely event that your unit deflates during use, remove all participants
immediately, check that the fan is still running and that the vent and motor ties are
secure.
19. In the event of rain do not allow the unit to be used. Leave unit inflated and dry off with
cloths once the rain has stopped. Ensure that the blower, cables and plugs do not get
wet. DO NOT DEFLATE THE UNIT BUT DO NOT LET IT BE USED UNTIL DRY AND
SAFE TO DO SO
20. In the event of strong winds, the unit MUST NOT BE USED AND THE PARTY CREW MUST
BE NOTIFIED. WE WILL THEN ADVISE YOU ON WHETHER TO KEEP THE
INFLATABLE INFLATED OR TO DEFLATE IT.
21. Hirees are responsible for arranging their own Public Liability Insurance.
22. Hirees are responsible for arranging adequate First Aid cover for the event.
23. In the unlikely event of an accident occurring, full written details including, name and
address of injured party, names and addresses of witnesses, circumstances of
accident must be recorded and a copy sent to The Party Crew immediately.
Insurance:
1. Our Liability as providers of leisure equipment is limited to any loss, damage or
accident that may be directly occasioned by the equipment itself. The Hirer shall at all
times and in all respects indemnify the Owner against and from, any and every
expense liability, loss, claim or proceeding whatsoever in respect of any personal
injury whatsoever (including but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing,
injury to the Hirer (if the same is possible) and injury in respect of damage to any
property whatsoever (including the Plant) arising out of or in connection with or
consequent upon the hire, delivery, use, misuse, non-use, repossession, collection,
return or non-return of the Plant or any part thereof.
2. We strongly recommend that you have your own insurance cover, as set out under
the Terms and Conditions of Hire.
3. Hirees will be responsible for full repair or replacement costs for the hired
equipment.
